Ons Jabeur has discussed her fitness challenges ahead of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
The start of Jabeur’s 2024 season has been challenging. She faced early exits at the Australian Open, Abu Dhabi Open, and Qatar Open, citing a nagging knee injury as the culprit for her struggles.
Reflecting on her predicament, Jabeur emphasized the difficulty of competing while dealing with physical discomfort. In an interview with The National, she expressed the conflict between her desire to play and her body’s limitations.
“I think it’s the worst decision you can take because my heart wants to play and my body is not allowing so much,” Jabeur revealed.
Looking ahead to the Dubai Tennis Championships, where she holds the fifth seed, Jabeur acknowledged the need to make prudent decisions regarding her participation.
“I feel like I need to make the right decision, and sometimes you have to make decisions where your heart is not agreeing with it. But all I know is that I’m doing my best to be ready for this tournament and be ready to play here and compete in front of amazing fans,” she stated.
