Marcell Ozuna slammed a three-run homer off Tanner Scott with just two outs left in the ninth inning, securing a 9-7 victory for the Atlanta Braves against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. This win allowed the Braves to clinch the series, winning two out of three games against the Marlins.

Atlanta had a strong lead of 5-1, but it slipped away, and they found themselves trailing 7-5 in the sixth inning. Jesús Sánchez tied the game with an RBI single, followed by Nick Gordon’s two-run homer off Dylan Lee.

Ozuna, who previously hit an RBI double in the seventh inning against Anthony Bender, came up big in the ninth. Ronald Acuña Jr. started the rally with a single, followed by a walk for Matt Olson.

Then Ozuna delivered with a powerful hit, sending the ball over the center field fence for his seventh home run of the season.

Reflecting on his performance, Ozuna expressed his desire to contribute to tying the game, especially with Acuña Jr. on base. He felt a sense of connection to Miami, where he started his professional career, hitting 7 for 12 with two homers and eight RBIs in the series.

Despite Ozuna’s heroics, Tanner Scott took responsibility for the loss, acknowledging his mistake in pitching a bad ball to Ozuna. Adam Duvall also contributed to the Braves’ offensive efforts with a homer.

Pitchers A.J. Minter and Raisel Iglesias secured the win for the Braves, with Iglesias earning his third save of the season.

Miami faced a setback with third baseman Jake Burger exiting the game in the third inning due to a left oblique strain. The Marlins’ record dropped to 3-13 after this loss.
