Quay Walker, a player on the Green Bay Packers team, did a great job stopping the other team’s players on Thursday night. However, he also made a mistake that made things harder for his team.
The Packers kept fighting and did not give up. They worked really, really hard. They scored more points, going from just 3 points to 17 points. Even though the other team moved the ball a lot, the Packers did a good job and made them kick a field goal instead of scoring a touchdown. This helped to keep the game close by the time the first half was done.
But then, after a break with ads, the people in charge said Quay Walker did something against the rules by jumping over the line. This meant the other team got another chance to try and score close to the end zone. And they did, making it even harder for the Packers to catch up and win.
“You have to be within a yard of the line of scrimmage. You cannot do that with a run-up,” coach Matt LaFleur said, referring to the penalty after the 34-20 loss. “That was bad. That was a bad deal.”
LaFleur, who was seen by Prime Camera talking to linebackers on the sideline after the game, took responsibility for not clearly explaining the rules to the second-year player.
“I am not going to sit here and blame Quay,” the coach said. “Of course, I have to educate the players more about the rules. That is up to me, too.”
Quay Walker Was Playing Well Before He Got the Penalty
The context behind Walker’s penalty is important. Last year, Walker was ejected during the team’s Week 18 game against Detroit for shoving a member of the Lions’ training staff who was trying to tend to an injured player.
This mistake by Walker was really bad for the Packers. It made it very hard for them to go to the playoffs and keep playing. I’m not sure if Green Bay could have won on Thursday with just a little lead. Walker’s mistake basically stopped any possibility of a comeback.
The sad thing is that Quay Walker was playing well before he got the penalty. He is still a young player, just in his second year, and he made 19 tackles during the game.
These tackles stopped the other team from scoring big points. To be honest, no Green Bay player had made that many tackles in a game since at least the year 2000, and no player in the whole league had done it up to this year, 2023!
On Thursday, Quay Walker showed what he is like as a player. He is really good at some parts of the game and can make big plays, but there are some things he still needs to work on.
