Paul Merson has said that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino should have included Ben Chilwell in the starting lineup against Bournemouth this past weekend. The Sky Sports pundit has said that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has got to start Ben Chilwell when he is fit and available.
The former Arsenal star has also said that he does not think that Mykhailo Mudryk should have started against Bournemouth in the Premier League this past weekend. Chelsea played out a goalless draw with Bournemouth away from home. Ukraine international winger Mudryk started the match.
Paul Merson Wants Ben Chilwell to Start for Chelsea
Mudryk showed his quality right away but was unable to make a big impact on the overall game. Chilwell did not start. The England left-back, who earns £200,000 a week (Spotrac), came on as a substitute in the 80th minute.
“We didn’t start Mykhailo Mudryk against Bournemouth,” Merson told Sky Sports. “I didn’t expect Ben Chilwell to not be in the starting XI. In my opinion, he should be the one to pick.”

Ben Chilwell is a Valuable Player for Chelsea
In our opinion, Ben Chilwell is one of Chelsea’s best and most important players. The 26-year-old has had injury problems but is one of the best left-backs when fit. And Chilwell can also play as a left wing-back.
We believe Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to integrate Chilwell into his squad. At 26 years old, he is too good to be a substitute. Chilwell has made 161 appearances in the Premier League during his career. The left-back scored 12 goals, provided 18 assists, and kept 39 clean sheets in these matches.
Now let us head to Arsenal, where Mikel Arteta, the boss, admitted that he did not let Fabio Vieira play as much as he should have. Fabio Vieira did not get to play as long as Mikel Arteta wanted him to.
Arteta said that it is his own fault that Vieira has not played much. He talked to Sky Sports before Arsenal’s match against PSV Eindhoven. Arsenal won a tough game they played with Everton, and now they are focusing on the Champions League.
Fabio Vieira, who started against Everton on Sunday, is hoping to maintain his place in the team. The 23-year-old registered assists against Fulham and Manchester United earlier this season, and Arteta gave him a chance against Everton.
Vieira did not have any additional assists, but he expects to be good enough to play a prominent role on offense.
