Courtland Sutton was in uniform, Greg Dulcich returned to practice, and Javonte Williams showed renewed speed after shedding weight.

Sutton, who had considered holding out for a better contract, attended the Denver Broncos’ first training camp practice on Wednesday. He participated in individual drills, unlike Dulcich and Williams, who did not join team drills.

Dulcich, sidelined since September due to persistent hamstring injuries that kept him out of 22 games over two NFL seasons, returned to the field. His limited play in two games last season left the Broncos missing a valuable counter to the prevalent nickel defenses in today’s football.

Coach Sean Payton commented positively on Dulcich’s return, noting his impressive performance despite some awkward-looking black socks.

Payton particularly praised Williams, who struggled during his 2023 comeback following knee surgery that cut short his 2022 season.

Williams had a sluggish performance in OTAs this summer but took Payton’s advice to lose weight, resulting in a noticeable improvement in his speed during Wednesday’s practice without pads.

As a rookie, Williams led the league with 31 broken tackles but saw a decline to just 10 last year as he worked to regain his previous form.

“He’s slimmed down. He looked sharp today,” Payton remarked. “He’s noticeably lighter, and I’m proud of his progress.”
