Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has provided an update on Erling Haaland’s injury status ahead of their FA Cup fourth-round clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 23-year-old striker has been sidelined due to a stress fracture in his foot, missing the last nine matches across all competitions. Despite Haaland’s absence, City has performed remarkably well, remaining unbeaten and securing eight victories, including the last six.

Guardiola mentioned that Haaland is nearing full fitness but won’t be available for the upcoming fixture against Ange Postecoglou’s team. “He is on the verge of coming back,” Guardiola stated, emphasizing that Haaland has been training but isn’t yet prepared for match action.

The manager added, “Training camp was good. He trained some sessions, the last few days here he trained, but it is not perfect, and we will wait a little bit more.”

Haaland has been instrumental for City this season, tallying 19 goals and five assists in 22 appearances across various competitions. As City aims to break their five-game losing streak at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the absence of Haaland presents a significant challenge for Guardiola’s side.

Haaland’s views about Manchester City

Despite his recent absence due to injury, Erling Haaland was honored with the best men’s player award for 2023 at the Globe Soccer Awards.

Expressing his gratitude for the accolade, the talented striker shared his enthusiasm for his time at Manchester City and his eagerness to return to action. Haaland remarked, “Manchester City is a fantastic club, I really enjoy being here. I hope to be back really soon from injury, I’m getting bored of not playing.”

Haaland’s debut season in English football, following his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, was nothing short of sensational. The left-footed forward showcased his remarkable skills by scoring 52 goals in 53 appearances across various competitions.

His prolific performances played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s success, as they secured their first continental treble, including their maiden UEFA Champions League title.
