Renan Ferreira is confident that Francis Ngannou is fully aware of the formidable challenge awaiting him when their paths eventually cross, whether it be inside the PFL SmartCage or within the squared circle of a boxing ring.
In an interview with MMAFighting.com, Ferreira expressed his observations regarding Ngannou’s demeanor, noting a discernible sense of unease during their encounter. “It surprised me a little bit,” Ferreira remarked.
“I thought he was going to approach it differently, but I noticed a discomfort in his smile. It seemed like he realized the gravity of the situation, that he’s facing a significant threat. There’s no room for games; I’m hungry for victory.”
While acknowledging Ngannou’s venture into the realm of boxing with admiration, Ferreira emphasized the contractual obligations Ngannou holds with the PFL.
“He’s embarking on this boxing journey that’s opening doors, and I have immense respect for him,” Ferreira stated. “However, he remains under contract with PFL. As I’ve stated before, I’m prepared to face him in boxing or MMA. Wherever the contest takes place, I’ll be prepared.”
Ngannou’s upcoming boxing match against Anthony Joshua on March 8 promises to be a significant event. A victory for Ngannou could potentially pave the way for a rematch with Tyson Fury or a showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.
Despite Ngannou’s temporary departure from MMA, Ferreira eagerly awaits his return, poised to meet him in the cage when the time comes.
