Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang advocates for Barcelona to consider Jurgen Klopp as the successor to Xavi Hernandez. Drawing from his own experience of playing under Klopp’s guidance at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang believes that Klopp possesses the qualities necessary to lead Barcelona effectively.
Both Klopp and Xavi have announced their departures from their respective managerial positions at the end of the season. While Klopp cited a need for a break due to dwindling energy levels, Xavi’s decision stemmed from Barcelona’s underwhelming performance this season.
Aubameyang credits Klopp with significantly shaping his career trajectory, transforming him into a standout player during their time together at Borussia Dortmund. Reflecting on his endorsement of Klopp for the Barcelona role, Aubameyang remarked during an interview on Gerard Romeo’s Twitch account, as reported by Goal:
“Klopp gives you everything, energy, he has won great titles, he is a good coach. If there is a chance for Barca he is a good option, I was very comfortable with him in Dortmund. It would be incredible if could come.”
During his tenure at Borussia Dortmund, Aubameyang flourished under Klopp’s management, amassing 41 goals and 16 assists in 93 appearances. Although Aubameyang has since moved on to Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1, he enjoyed a successful stint at Barcelona, contributing 13 goals in 24 games.
As Klopp prepares to take a hiatus following his departure from Liverpool, his potential availability offers Barcelona an enticing prospect for their managerial vacancy. However, Liverpool faces the challenge of filling the void left by Klopp’s departure after his remarkable nine-year tenure.
