Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has thrown his support behind Liverpool to triumph over Chelsea in the upcoming Carabao Cup final on Sunday, February 25. Despite his allegiance to his former club, Gallas believes that Jürgen Klopp’s team holds the advantage.
In an interview with Gambling Zone, Gallas emphasized that Liverpool’s players would be driven by the desire to secure a trophy, particularly in Jürgen Klopp’s final season with the club. Additionally, he pointed out that the opportunity to equal Manchester United’s overall trophy count at 68 would further motivate the Reds’ squad. Gallas stated:
“I don’t think Chelsea will win, but as a former Chelsea player, my heart is for a victory for Chelsea. We know that Klopp is on the way out of Liverpool, and the players will be extra motivated to get a result for him.
As I mentioned before, players must approach these games thinking that they could be their last.”
“If Liverpool win this trophy, then they will draw level with Manchester United on overall trophies, with sixty-eight each. Maybe the players know about this – I’m sure Klopp does (laughs)! I think Liverpool will be ready to win on Sunday.”
The upcoming final marks the third encounter between the two sides this season, with their previous meetings resulting in a draw at Stamford Bridge and a 4-1 victory for Liverpool at Anfield.
