The Portland Trail Blazers’ Shaedon Sharpe has a small tear in the labrum of his left shoulder. The team announced this on Saturday afternoon, shortly after saying he wouldn’t be able to participate in their Fan Fest event.
An MRI confirmed the small posterior labral tear earlier this week.
Sharpe will start rehabilitation and is expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks.
During the 2023-24 season, Sharpe averaged 15.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in just 32 games. He missed a lot of time due to a core muscle injury, which required surgery, but he was planning to return in the fall.
With the Blazers’ season starting in about two and a half weeks, Sharpe could miss most of the first month of the season. Four weeks from now is Portland’s seventh game, which is against Phoenix, and six weeks from now is their fourteenth game on November 17th against Atlanta.
