The Princess of Wales plans to attend the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, marking a rare public appearance following her cancer diagnosis.
Kensington Palace announced on Saturday that Kate, wife of Prince William, will be seated in the Royal Box on Centre Court to watch defending champion Carlos Alcaraz face Novak Djokovic.
However, she won’t be present at Saturday’s women’s final between Jasmine Paolini and Barbora Krejcikova. The winner’s trophy will be presented by Deborah Jevans, chair of the All England Club.
Kate has served as the All England Club’s patron since 2016, with responsibilities including presenting trophies after each men’s and women’s singles final.
Since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March, Kate has made only one public appearance, attending King Charles III’s birthday parade last month.
In a statement before the event, Kate mentioned she was “making good progress” but still experienced “good days and bad days” during her treatment.
Prince William, a regular at Wimbledon finals, will not attend Sunday’s match. Instead, he will be at the soccer final between England and Spain in Germany, as he is the president of the English Football Association.
