The Steelers are getting a new starting quarterback and some changes at wide receiver in 2024.
George Pickens and Calvin Austin III are back from last season, but the team has added four new players. Quez Watkins, Van Jefferson, Scotty Miller, and Roman Wilson (a third-round pick) are joining the returning players. Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson have left the team this offseason.
The receivers who left were targeted more than 130 times last season. Watkins sees this as a big opportunity for himself.
Watkins said, “When I saw they traded Diontae, it was a great opportunity to potentially be a No. 2 or whatever they want me to do. It’s a good opportunity to compete for that spot.”
There’s been talk of the Steelers trading for a receiver, but they haven’t made a big move yet. If Watkins and the others do well during the offseason program, it’s likely that the Steelers won’t make any major changes.
