Ceddanne Rafaela hit a triple and a double while driving in three runs, Brayan Bello held Miami to just one run over 6 2/3 innings, and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Marlins 7-2 on Wednesday night.

Rafael Devers and Masataka Yoshida each contributed with two hits and two RBIs to help the Red Sox secure their third consecutive win after a three-game losing streak.

“We’re improving as a team overall,” Devers commented. “Our defense is better, and we’re running the bases aggressively. These are the things that are contributing to our success.”

Making his first start since June 25, Bello (8-5) allowed seven hits, walked one, and struck out seven. He skipped his previous start to work on overcoming a tough stretch where he lost three of his last four decisions.

“It feels satisfying to have a successful outing,” Bello remarked. “All the hard work we put in paid off.”

Bello settled in after giving up three hits to Miami’s first four batters, scattering four singles for the rest of his time on the mound.

Trevor Rogers pitches in the 1st inning

“I focused on attacking the hitters — that was the key adjustment,” Bello explained. “It’s something I hadn’t been consistent with earlier in the season.”

Red Sox center fielder Jarren Duran and left fielder Rob Refsnyder both made standout defensive plays, robbing Miami’s Josh Bell of potential extra-base hits. Duran made a leaping catch at the wall in the sixth inning, while Refsnyder dove to snag a line drive in the eighth.

Boston took advantage of Miami starter Trevor Rogers’ struggles (1-9), collecting five hits and three walks in the first three innings. Run-scoring singles from Devers and Yoshida in the third inning erased an early deficit and gave Boston a 2-1 lead.
