NFL veteran Randall Cobb expressed gratitude to Nashville firefighters for rescuing his family from a house fire. Cobb, in a statement and video on social media, confirmed his family and dog were safe and well. He praised the firefighters for their swift response, recalling a particularly brave firefighter who acted before even having water to fight the flames.

Cobb admitted his initial fear that the situation could escalate, potentially causing explosions and tragic losses. He described the firefighter as a genuine hero for risking his life to save others.

As of Thursday, the Nashville Fire Department had not responded to requests for comment from The Associated Press.

Cobb acknowledged uncertainty about what could be salvaged from the fire-damaged home and expressed gratitude to close friends who provided temporary shelter for his wife, children, and himself.

His social media post included images and footage showing the extent of damage to the garage and a vehicle, concluding with a reassuring photo of his family safely tucked in bed.

Cobb, who has played in the NFL for 13 years and is currently a free agent, was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2011 from the University of Kentucky. He spent last season with the New York Jets after a decade with the Packers, and stints in Dallas and Houston.
