Edge rusher Randy Gregory did not show up for the start of Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp and was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old, who has previously played for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and San Francisco 49ers, signed a one-year, $3 million contract in free agency. However, he did not participate in the Bucs’ voluntary offseason program or attend the team’s mandatory minicamp this summer.
Tampa Bay’s first practice is scheduled for Wednesday.
In June, Gregory filed a lawsuit against the NFL and the Broncos, alleging discrimination after being fined $532,500 for using medication containing THC to treat disabilities during his time with the Broncos.
Gregory claimed he was prescribed Dronabinol for social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorders but was not allowed to use it as treatment.
Although the NFL no longer suspends players for testing positive for THC, it remains a banned substance subject to fines. The Broncos are named in the lawsuit, although teams do not determine fines for violating the league’s drug policies.
According to the complaint, Gregory has been fined $532,500 for multiple positive THC tests since March 2023. The lawsuit argues that the league’s and club’s refusal to accommodate Gregory’s disabilities constitutes discrimination under Colorado law.
