Bayern Munich’s left-back Raphaël Guerreiro won’t be playing in the upcoming Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid due to an ankle injury.

He got hurt during a match against Stuttgart, and the club confirmed that he has ligament and capsule damage in his ankle.

This means he’ll be out of action for several upcoming games. Guerreiro had to leave the game against Stuttgart in the 17th minute, and Bayern’s coach Thomas Tuchel mentioned afterward that Guerreiro had to use crutches.

In the first leg against Madrid, Tuchel made several changes to the starting lineup, and Guerreiro was one of those who started. Other players like Noussair Mazraoui, Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Jamal Musiala were given rest.

Eric Dier was also taken off at halftime as a precaution after a head clash during the match. The good news for Bayern is that Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, who missed the first leg due to injury, returned to training.

The second leg of the semifinal against Madrid will be played on Wednesday, and the winner of this tie will face either Borussia Dortmund or Paris Saint-Germain in the final on June 1 in London.
