The Baltimore Ravens secured their defensive future by finalizing a contract extension with defensive tackle Justin Madubuike on Friday.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the lucrative four-year deal is valued at $98 million, making Madubuike the second-highest-paid defensive tackle in the league, trailing only Los Angeles Rams standout Aaron Donald.

Originally drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft, Madubuike had received the non-exclusive franchise tag earlier in the week to prevent him from entering free agency. With this extension, Madubuike’s contract now extends through the 2027 NFL season.

Ravens’ general manager Eric DeCosta expressed his satisfaction with the agreement, stating, “We are pleased to announce a four-year extension with Justin Madubuike. Justin is one of the best defensive tackles in the entire NFL and a cornerstone on our defense.”

In the current season spanning 17 games, the 26-year-old athlete amassed impressive stats, registering a career-high 13 sacks, 56 tackles, and 33 quarterback hits, leading the team in these categories.

His outstanding performance earned him his first Pro Bowl selection and a spot on the All-Pro second team. Additionally, Madubuike received a vote for the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
