Lamar Jackson wrapped up a strong regular season with a more average performance, but it was enough to break two NFL records and secure a second consecutive AFC North title for the Baltimore Ravens.

In a 35-10 win over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, Jackson completed 16 of 32 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns, along with 63 rushing yards. While his performance wasn’t extraordinary, Jackson still played a crucial role in the Ravens’ victory and their fourth division title in his seven years as a starter.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski praised Jackson for his ability to make plays, especially on third downs, and his challenge for defenders with his ability to escape and throw while moving.

Whether it’s scrambling behind the line of scrimmage, running the ball, or making impressive throws on the move, Jackson has showcased his talents all season long for the Ravens (12-5). He set some remarkable records along the way.

Jackson became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for 900 yards in a single season, raising the bar higher than the previous record of 4,000 and 800.

His 12-yard touchdown pass to Mark Andrews in the second quarter also made him the first quarterback in history to throw for 4,000 yards, 40 touchdown passes, and four or fewer interceptions in a season.

Jackson ended the regular season with 4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdown passes, and 915 rushing yards. Despite his accomplishments, Jackson was quick to credit his teammates, saying, “That’s all my teammates included in that. It’s not just me. I do what I’m supposed to.”

Jackson is now the third Ravens quarterback to throw for over 4,000 yards in a season, joining Vinny Testaverde (1996) and Joe Flacco (2016), who set the team record with 4,317 yards.

Now, Jackson aims to be the third Ravens quarterback to win a Super Bowl, following Trent Dilfer and Flacco. The Ravens will open the playoffs at home in the wild-card round next weekend.

While reaching this point is a great achievement, Jackson understands there’s more to be done. He is determined to prove himself further and end discussions about his 2-4 postseason record. “We got the job done. But the job is undone,” Jackson said. “I’m cool with what’s going on today, but my mind is on something else.”
