Spain defender Dani Carvajal has had surgery on his right knee, as confirmed by his club Real Madrid on Friday.
The club stated that the surgery was successful and that the player will begin his recovery process in the next few days.
Carvajal likely suffered a season-ending injury during a Spanish league match last weekend. He was diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured external collateral ligament, and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg.
After his injury, the club announced it had agreed to extend his contract with the 32-year-old right back until June 2026.
Carvajal played a key role in helping Spain win the European Championship in July.
