Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is reportedly contemplating a departure from the Spanish club due to his inability to secure a spot in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. The Spanish international is considering a return to his former club Real Betis, bringing an end to his tenure with Los Blancos.
Despite his talent, Ceballos has faced stiff competition for playing time at Real Madrid, particularly in the midfield department. Since joining the club from his boyhood team Real Betis in 2017, he has amassed 139 appearances.
Struggling to establish himself amidst the formidable midfield options at the Santiago Bernabéu, Ceballos had a stint on loan at Arsenal, where he spent two seasons between 2019 and 2021.
However, his return to Real Madrid hasn’t seen him secure a regular starting role, with just 12 league appearances and one start this season.
With a plethora of midfield talents preferred ahead of him, including Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos, and Luka Modric, Ceballos is mulling over his future at Real Madrid. A potential return to Real Betis is reportedly on the cards, according to Fichajes.net.
Despite recently extending his contract with Los Blancos until 2027, Ceballos has found playing time limited under Ancelotti, making just four starts in his 19 appearances this season. A reunion with Real Betis, where he made 105 senior appearances, could provide him with the opportunities he seeks.
