The latest report provides more insight into a serious injury suffered by a 31-year-old SmackDown Superstar known as Shotzi during a recent WWE taping.
Shotzi, who transitioned from NXT to the main roster in 2021, has been involved in high-profile feuds with the likes of Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks (now Mercedes Mone), and Bayley. Recently, she made a return to NXT house shows, teaming up with Gigi Dolin to secure a victory over Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley.
Reports initially indicated that Shotzi sustained a knee injury during the second WWE NXT taping, where she was scheduled to compete for the NXT Women’s Championship against Lyra Valkyria.
However, a new report from Fightful Select reveals that the injury occurred when Shotzi fell outside the ring and hit her knee against the ring’s edge.
Unable to continue the match, she had to be assisted backstage. According to Corey Brennan’s report, Shotzi was unable to put weight on her leg and had to hop backstage for medical evaluation due to the intense pain.
The injury was deemed accidental, with no backstage issues between Shotzi and Lyra Valkyria. The timeline for Shotzi’s return to action remains uncertain as she continues to recover from the injury.
