According to a recent report, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami might soon see another familiar face from his past, with Philippe Coutinho potentially joining the club. Coutinho, currently playing for Al Duhail in Qatar, has drawn significant interest from Major League Soccer (MLS), with LA Galaxy also monitoring his situation.
Since Messi’s arrival last summer, Inter Miami’s profile has soared, allowing them to attract several European football legends. In the past months, the team has secured signings like Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and most recently, Luis Suárez.
A report from Diario AS links former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho to a move to the United States. At present, the Brazilian international is on loan at Al Duhail from Premier League side Aston Villa.
Coutinho addressed speculation about his future in a recent interview but remained non-committal about his plans. Speaking to Spanish outlet SPORT, the 31-year-old said (via Sport Bible), “I only think about the moment. I want to be well, prepare well, play good games, enjoy football. We never know what will happen in the future.”
Despite his notable performances in the Premier League, Coutinho has struggled to fulfill his potential since joining Barcelona. His transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona in 2018 for an initial fee of £105 million yielded 25 goals and 14 assists in 106 games.
Following a successful loan stint at Bayern Munich, where he won the European treble in 2020, Coutinho moved to Aston Villa in 2022. However, he failed to replicate his form, managing only six goals and three assists in 43 appearances.
As a result, Coutinho has caught the attention of MLS clubs, with Inter Miami and LA Galaxy reportedly expressing strong interest, according to AS.
