A representative for a Chelsea star has refuted claims of an agreement with Al Hilal amid continued interest from Saudi Arabia in Premier League players, including those from Manchester City and Liverpool.
Reports suggest that Raheem Sterling is also a target for Saudi Arabian clubs, with Al Hilal monitoring his situation closely for a potential move. However, intermediaries close to Sterling have denied any involvement with the Saudi Pro League side.
The 29-year-old remains fully committed to Chelsea and has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge this summer. Additionally, Sterling has not engaged in discussions with Saudi officials regarding a move to the Middle East.
Sterling made the switch to Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 for £47.5 million, signing a five-year contract. In his debut season at the club, he scored nine goals in 38 appearances across all competitions, and this season, he has already notched eight goals.
Despite his statistical output compared to the previous season, former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel believes Sterling is currently not performing at his best.
“He’s miles off it to be honest… I think he actually started the season really well… He was playing well. He was creating chances. He was taking people on. He became the Raheem Sterling we know from before,” Mikel commented.
“He did all that because he wanted to get into the England team. I think the first call-up that came during the start of the season his name wasn’t there. That took a lot of his confidence I would say. After that he just went, his head just went…”
Mikel further expressed, “Since then I haven’t seen the Raheem Sterling that started the season. He’s been a shadow of himself. I think he still has a lot to offer. Is it at Chelsea or somewhere else? We have to decide at the end of the season.”
