Los Angeles Rams’ right guard Kevin Dotson has reached an agreement on a three-year contract to remain with the team, as confirmed on Thursday.
The contract is anticipated to be valued at $48 million for Dotson, who established himself as one of the premier guards in the NFL and a cornerstone of the Rams’ offensive line following his acquisition from the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp last season.
Originally drafted in the fourth round by the Steelers out of Louisiana in 2022, Dotson consistently earned high grades from Pro Football Focus and other analysts as one of the league’s top interior offensive linemen during his debut season with the Rams.
Dotson, alongside rookie left guard Steve Avila, made significant contributions to the Rams’ offense, which saw a notable improvement from ranking 25th to 11th in the NFL in rushing yards, while also allowing just 2.0 sacks per game of quarterback Matthew Stafford, a significant drop from the 3.2 sacks per game he faced in 2022.
Known for his prowess as a run-blocker, Dotson also displayed discipline, committing only two penalties for the Rams, who finished the season with a 10-7 record and secured a playoff berth after a challenging 5-12 campaign the previous year.
The Rams acquired Dotson at a minimal cost, trading two Day 3 draft picks to Pittsburgh to secure his services, along with two additional Day 3 draft choices. Although Dotson primarily played left guard for the Steelers, the team opted to give his starting position to Isaac Seumalo.
Dotson, along with safety Jordan Fuller, was among the Rams’ notable unrestricted free agents this off season.
