Rising Rockets star Alperen Sengun leaves game in wheelchair after frightening fall

Alperen Sengun, the burgeoning star of the Houston Rockets, exited Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings in dramatic fashion, leaving the court in a wheelchair following a harrowing fall.

The incident unfolded late in the game as Sengun contested a layup by Domantas Sabonis. Landing awkwardly under the basket, he suffered a distressing fall, with his right leg buckling and his head snapping back towards the stanchion. Writhing in pain, he clutched his knee while lying on the floor.

The severity of the injury was initially unclear, prompting concerns among fans and teammates alike. Sengun, visibly distressed, required assistance from his teammates to be transported off the court in a wheelchair, his head bowed as he made his way to the Houston locker room.

Postgame reports indicated that Sengun would undergo further evaluation, including an MRI on his right knee and ankle, to assess the extent of the injury.

Sengun, at just 21 years old, had been a standout performer for the Rockets, playing a pivotal role in their ongoing rebuilding efforts. Prior to the injury, he had showcased impressive statistics, highlighting his potential as one of the NBA’s rising stars.

However, his departure from the game cast a shadow over the Rockets’ prospects, particularly as they faced an uphill battle to secure a playoff berth in the Western Conference. With Sengun’s health uncertain, both he and the team faced an anxious wait for further updates on his condition.
