The South American soccer organization CONMEBOL announced on Friday that River Plate’s Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires will be the site for the Copa Libertadores final on November 30.
The Argentine team is still competing and will play Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro in two matches later this month to secure a spot in the final.
CONMEBOL had revealed in February that the final would take place in Argentina’s capital but had not yet selected a specific venue.
If River Plate had not progressed this far in the tournament, a smaller stadium could have been chosen instead of the renovated 84,000-seat stadium.
In the other semifinal, Brazil’s Botafogo will face Uruguay’s Peñarol.
This will be the first time the Monumental Stadium has hosted the Copa Libertadores final, which has changed from a two-legged format to a single match since 2019.
