A documentary featuring Roger Federer’s final 12 days in his illustrious tennis career is set to debut on Amazon Prime, offering an intimate glimpse into his farewell journey.
Federer bid adieu to professional tennis at the 2022 Laver Cup, culminating with a doubles match alongside his longtime rival Rafael Nadal. In preparation for his retirement, the former World No. 1 enlisted the help of his close friend and Condé Nast chief content officer Anna Wintour to document his final days on the court.
Upon Wintour’s recommendation, Federer collaborated with Joe Sabia, known for his work on Vogue’s 73 Questions series, to capture moments with fellow tennis titans such as Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.
Amazon acquired the rights to the project and entrusted Asif Kapadia, the director of the acclaimed documentary about Formula One icon Ayrton Senna, to helm the production.
Scheduled for release in July 2024, coinciding with the Wimbledon Championships, where Federer clinched a record-breaking eight titles, fans eagerly anticipate revisiting the emotions of the tennis legend’s farewell.
“I will be weeping throughout Wimbledon,” expressed one enthusiast on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting the sentiment of many.
