Amed Rosario and René Pinto hit home runs off Blake Snell as he came back to Tropicana Field, helping the Tampa Bay Rays secure a 9-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Sunday.
Rosario’s two-run homer came in the first inning, contributing to a three-run start for the Rays, while Pinto added a three-run drive in the fourth inning. Pinto, who hadn’t been hitting much lately, also managed to hit a solo homer in the sixth inning against Kai-Wei Teng.
Snell, who is still adjusting to his new team, had a tough outing, giving up seven hits, walking two, and striking out for over four innings. Despite his struggles, Giants manager Bob Melvin remains hopeful that Snell will improve in his upcoming starts.
Although Snell’s command wasn’t at its best, Rays manager Kevin Cash acknowledged his talent and the challenge he posed for their team. Despite this, the Rays managed to capitalize on their opportunities, hitting four homers in the game, including one by Michael Conforto for the Giants.
