Ryan O’Hearn hits a double in the third inning

Ryan O’Hearn played a crucial role in the Orioles’ victory over the Mariners, hitting a pivotal two-out, two-run double and later adding a solo home run. Dean Kremer, in his first start since late May, pitched five scoreless innings.

Baltimore won their sixth game in seven outings, while the Mariners, who have seen their 10-game lead in the AL West shrink to two, lost for the 10th time in 13 games.

Seattle manager Scott Servais expressed frustration with his team’s offensive struggles against Baltimore’s effective pitching. Craig Kimbrel secured his 21st save for the Orioles and his 438th career save overall, moving him into fourth place on the all-time saves list, surpassing Francisco Rodriguez.

Logan Gilbert pitches in the fifth inning

O’Hearn, who narrowly missed being selected as the AL designated hitter for the All-Star Game, delivered a critical hit in the third inning off Seattle’s Logan Gilbert.

His deep drive to left-center field grazed off Julio Rodríguez’s glove as he attempted a sliding catch on the warning track. O’Hearn’s hit drove in two runs, with another run scored on Anthony Santander’s subsequent single.

Reflecting on the play, O’Hearn acknowledged Rodríguez’s effort, noting he was relieved the catch wasn’t made. In the fifth inning, O’Hearn added to his contributions with his 11th home run of the season, connecting on a cutter from Gilbert.
