According to Bristol Rovers correspondent Dan Hargraves, the 26-year-old forward has been excluded from the match-day squad for the League One encounter against Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

Throughout January, both Wrexham and Charlton Athletic have expressed interest in his services as Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds aim to bolster their quest for consecutive promotions. Bristol Rovers manager Matt Taylor has addressed the possibility of player departures from the club this month, stating:

“There’s always potential for the right offer to come in, not only in terms of transfer fees but also loans for those who aren’t getting the desired game time.

“We need to remain open to that. However, the squad has suddenly become thin, which is surprising to say considering the depth it had when I arrived at the club. We’re looking for valuable contributions on the pitch.

“So, there’s room for movement in the next week or so, but I’ve always maintained that I took on this job because of the quality within the squad, and I prefer to explore options within the team before seeking external solutions.”

Despite his inability to replicate last season’s prolific goal-scoring form, where he scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists, Collins has continued to facilitate opportunities for his teammates and currently leads the division in assists with eight.

His consistent performances have attracted a growing number of potential suitors, prompting the club to consider whether to cash in on one of their most valuable assets. With his current contract at the League One club set to expire next summer, Collins remains sidelined from the starting lineup as the end of the January transfer window approaches.

Whether he will remain in Bristol or opt to join Wrexham under their Hollywood owners remains uncertain.
