Saints GM Loomis Says ‘Everybody Is Tradable’ amid Marshon Lattimore Trade Rumors

The New Orleans Saints, under the guidance of general manager Mickey Loomis, have opened the door to potential trades for their players, emphasizing that every player is tradable depending on the offers they receive.

While Loomis acknowledges this possibility, he also expresses a reluctance to part ways with significant contributors to the team, highlighting the complexity of such decisions and the importance of evaluating potential trades on a case-by-case basis.

Loomis’s remarks came in response to inquiries about the status of cornerback Marshon Lattimore, whose contract was restructured in December to facilitate potential trades.

By converting Lattimore’s base salary to an option bonus, the financial burden for acquiring him would be shifted to any interested team, similar to the strategy employed by the Green Bay Packers in trading Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Despite reports suggesting Lattimore’s availability, the Saints still view him as a valuable asset, given his contractual stability and track record of on-field success.

Marshon Lattimore, a former Defensive Rookie of the Year and four-time Pro Bowler, has been a cornerstone of the Saints’ defense since being drafted in the first round in 2017.

Despite recent injury setbacks that limited his playing time in the past two seasons, Lattimore’s talent and potential remain undeniable. While his availability may attract interest from other teams, particularly those seeking top-tier cornerback talent, the Saints value his contributions and leadership within the organization.

The decision to entertain trade offers for Lattimore reflects the pragmatic approach the Saints are taking to roster management, considering both short-term needs and long-term sustainability. While trading a player of Lattimore’s caliber would undoubtedly be a significant move, it underscores the team’s willingness to explore all options to improve their roster and position themselves for success in the future.

As the NFL landscape continues to evolve, with teams constantly evaluating their personnel and strategic priorities, the Saints remain open to potential trades but maintain a cautious approach, weighing the potential benefits against the value of retaining key players like Marshon Lattimore.

Until a compelling offer materializes, Lattimore remains a vital part of the Saints’ plans, poised to continue making an impact on the field for the foreseeable future.
