Salvador Perez smashed a three-run home run, while Brady Singer pitched six strong innings, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 7-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night.

Perez’s eighth homer of the season came during Kansas City’s explosive seventh inning, which saw the team score six runs. Before Perez’s homer, Kyle Isbel, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Bobby Witt Jr. each had RBI singles, contributing to the Royals’ commanding lead.

“It felt amazing. It reminded me of 2021 when I hit 48 home runs. I’m grateful for the support from the fans in Kansas City,” Perez expressed. “Right now, we’re winning, and I hope it continues. I think the fans feel the same energy we have in the dugout.”

Earlier in the game, Michael Lorenzen had a solid outing for Texas, allowing only three hits and one run, which came from a homer by Hunter Renfroe. Despite his efforts, the Royals’ offense broke through in the seventh inning.

Cole Winn struggled in relief, giving up four runs in just one-third of an inning, followed by two more runs surrendered by Jose Urena to close out the inning.

“The slight offness from Cole tonight might have affected his command,” noted Rangers manager Bruce Bochy. “His performance was a bit shaky.”

The victory marks the Royals’ third consecutive win and their seventh in the last ten games. Meanwhile, the Rangers had won three of their previous four matchups.

Singer’s solid performance on the mound was crucial for the Royals, as he allowed only one run and four hits while striking out eight batters without issuing any walks. This season, Singer has held opponents to one run or less in five of his seven starts.

“I was relieved to get through the sixth inning,” Singer admitted. “I aimed to avoid walks after my recent outings, and I focused on attacking the strike zone.”
