San Francisco Giants left-hander Blake Snell has kept the Cincinnati Reds hitless through eight innings on Friday night.
The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner struck out 10 Reds batters and walked three, helping the Giants build a 3-0 lead through eight innings at Great American Ball Park. Snell, who is 31 years old, has thrown 108 pitches, with 73 of them being strikes.
Casey Schmitt and Tyler Fitzgerald hit home runs, and Fitzgerald also had an RBI double for the Giants. The game was delayed for an hour due to threatening weather.
Before this game, Snell was 0-3 with a 5.10 ERA. He had pitched six perfect innings on July 14 before Twins’ Manuel Margot singled to lead off the seventh inning.
