Savion Red scored four rushing touchdowns on Saturday night, and Kitan Crawford returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown. Quarterback Brendon Lewis also added a 67-yard touchdown run during a wild fourth quarter, helping Nevada win against Oregon State 42-37.
Lewis completed 5 of 12 passes for 51 yards, but he also rushed for 151 yards on nine carries. Red had 23 carries for 137 yards, scoring on runs of 33 and 5 yards in the first half. His 7-yard touchdown run with about 6 minutes left in the third quarter brought Nevada closer, making the score 24-21.
Michael Coats Jr. intercepted a pass from Gevani McCoy, setting up Red’s 6-yard run with 13:37 left in the fourth quarter, which gave the Wolfpack a four-point lead. Crawford’s interception return for a touchdown made it 35-24 less than three minutes later.
Anthony Hankerson scored on a 1-yard run, but after a failed 2-point conversion, Oregon State trailed by five with 6:59 remaining.
On first-and-15 from the Beavers’ 33-yard line, Lewis faked a handoff on a jet sweep and sprinted up the middle for a touchdown, extending the lead to 42-30 with four minutes left. Oregon State quickly responded with a 3-yard touchdown pass from McCoy to Trent Walker, finishing the scoring with 1:57 left.
Nevada (3-4) went three-and-out on its next possession, and the Beavers moved past midfield. However, Coats intercepted another pass from McCoy in the end zone as time expired, securing the victory for Nevada.
Hankerson had a strong game for Oregon State (4-2), rushing 28 times for 154 yards and scoring three touchdowns. McCoy completed 27 of 42 passes for 348 yards and one touchdown, but he also threw four interceptions.
