Rams head coach Sean McVay is known for his creative offensive strategies, and he’s excited about the potential for innovation in special teams this season.
McVay welcomes the challenge brought by the new kickoff rule, which is expected to lead to more kickoff returns and different special teams tactics.
“I think we’ll learn a lot as we go,” McVay said. “We’ll see how these changes affect the game and influence strategies, especially with the increased number of plays.”
McVay praised the league’s special teams coordinators for collaborating on the kickoff rule changes and finding solutions inspired by the XFL.
“It’s been impressive to see our special teams coordinators come together and propose changes that were influenced by the XFL,” McVay said. “It’s important to keep the excitement in the game, and there’s been a concerted effort to do that.”
