The Seattle Seahawks have traded for veteran defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris from the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve their struggling run defense.
Seattle sent a sixth-round draft pick in 2026 to complete the trade, according to a source who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because neither team shared details about the deal, which was first reported by NFL Network.
Robertson-Harris, 31, is expected to strengthen a defense that currently ranks 27th in the league against the run.
At the time of the trade, Robertson-Harris was in London and will need to take a long flight to Seattle to arrive in time for Wednesday’s practice.
The Seahawks (3-3), who are tied with San Francisco for the top spot in the NFC West, will play at Atlanta on Sunday, meaning Robertson-Harris will travel over 13,000 miles in 11 days.
This season, he recorded seven tackles, including two sacks, in six games with the Jaguars (1-5). He had one of three sacks in a 35-16 loss to his former team, Chicago, on Sunday.
In 2023, he signed a three-year, $21.6 million contract extension with Jacksonville, which included $14.4 million guaranteed. This season, he will count $1.4 million against Seattle’s salary cap, with $6.6 million in 2025 and $6.8 million in 2026. The Seahawks can release him next year without affecting their salary cap.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville will incur $3.4 million in dead money this year and $6.9 million in 2025.
Robertson-Harris is in his eighth NFL season, having spent his first four years with Chicago. He has accumulated 198 career tackles and 19 sacks over 106 games.
He joins a Seattle defense that is currently missing pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu. In late August, Jacksonville traded pass rusher Trevis Gipson to the Seahawks for a late-round pick in 2025, but Gipson has had limited playing time since joining the team.
