Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith returned to practice on Monday after missing a few days due to knee and hip issues.
Smith was among the first players back on the field when Seattle resumed activities after a day off. He had been knocked around in practice early last week and was held out as a precaution.
Smith underwent imaging tests during the week, and coach Mike Macdonald mentioned on Saturday that the quarterback needed one more set of tests before coming back.
“We followed the steps of what everyone was saying that we needed to do and it was time for him to go out there and he was there. It was great,” Macdonald said.
Smith participated fully in the two-hour practice, and there are no restrictions for him moving forward.
“As far as I know, I think he’s rolling,” Macdonald said.
With Smith out last week, Sam Howell took the reps with Seattle’s starting offense. Howell was acquired from Washington in March after starting every game for the Commanders last season. However, Smith remains the clear starter for the Seahawks.
Seattle also signed linebacker Blake Lynch on Monday. Lynch started seven games over two seasons for Minnesota in 2020-21 and played in seven games last season for the Los Angeles Chargers.
