Serhou Guirassy scored two goals and won a penalty as Borussia Dortmund came back from being two goals down to beat local rivals Bochum 4-2 in the Bundesliga on Friday, just before their Champions League match against Celtic next week.
Dortmund had suffered a heavy 5-1 loss to Stuttgart last week, putting pressure on new coach Nuri Sahin as his team fell behind early in the game against Bochum.
In just five minutes, Matus Bero scored with a well-executed one-two pass, and Dani de Wit made it 2-0 after taking the ball from Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. On the sidelines, Sahin expressed his frustration with a wide gesture.
Dortmund fought back, starting with a header from Guirassy just before halftime, making it 2-1. Then, Emre Can scored a penalty after Guirassy was fouled.
After that, Dortmund took control with quick counterattacks. Karim Adeyemi set up Guirassy for a goal that made it 3-2, shooting the ball through Bochum’s goalkeeper Patrick Drewes’ legs.
A mistake by Drewes allowed Felix Nmecha’s shot to roll in for Dortmund’s fourth goal.
Dortmund moved up to second place in the table with 10 points from five games, behind Bayern Munich. The last season’s Champions League runner-up will host Scottish club Celtic on Tuesday.
Bochum, meanwhile, is second-to-last in the 18-team Bundesliga with just one point under new coach Peter Zeidler.
