Shohei Ohtani hit another homer as the Dodgers defeated the White Sox 4-0 on Wednesday night, extending their winning streak to four games. Gavin Stone pitched a complete game, allowing only four hits and striking out seven without issuing any walks.
Ohtani’s home run, his 25th of the season, came off a full-count pitch from Erick Fedde and traveled 437 feet with an exit velocity of 113.9 mph. This was Ohtani’s third leadoff homer of the season, setting a new franchise record with an RBI streak of 10 consecutive games. He emphasized his focus on quality at-bats contributing to this achievement.
Stone’s performance was praised by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts as dominant and in complete control.
It was Stone’s first career complete game and a crucial contribution following strong bullpen performances in the previous games of the series. Stone’s record now stands at 9-2, with an impressive 2.03 ERA in his last 11 starts.
The game marked the Dodgers’ first complete game since April 2022, highlighting Stone’s effectiveness and ability to pitch deep into games.
Despite playing in front of a sellout crowd on Mexican Heritage Night, the White Sox struggled offensively, getting shut out for the 12th time this season. They managed only one hit in 21 opportunities with runners in scoring position during the series, totaling just three runs and 17 hits over the three games.
