Katerina Siniakova will compete in her third Wimbledon women’s doubles final after stopping Hsieh Su-Wei’s winning streak at the tournament.
Siniakova and Taylor Townsend defeated top-seeded duo Hsieh and Elise Mertens 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on No. 1 Court on Friday.
In Saturday’s final, they will face Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski, the second-seeded pair from New Zealand and Canada, who defeated Americans Caroline Dolehide and Desirae Krawczyk 6-4, 6-3.
Hsieh has won four Wimbledon doubles titles, including the last three times she competed in the tournament. She won in 2021 with Mertens and in the previous year, Mertens was her opponent in the final. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to the pandemic, and Hsieh missed 2022 due to injury.
Siniakova previously won the Wimbledon doubles title in 2022 and 2018 with Czech partner Barbora Krejcikova, who reached the singles final this year. Siniakova also claimed this year’s French Open doubles title with Coco Gauff, marking her eighth major doubles title overall.
Townsend is seeking her first Grand Slam title after finishing as runner-up at the U.S. Open in 2022 and the French Open last year.
Routliffe and Dabrowski won the 2023 U.S. Open doubles title and are aiming for their first Wimbledon championship. Dabrowski, aged 32, is playing in her 10th Wimbledon and was a finalist in 2019 alongside Xu Yifan.
