The UFC 297 event in Toronto, Canada, appears to have avoided the disruptions that have plagued several recent UFC events due to last-minute changes. Despite various unforeseen circumstances leading to alterations in fight cards, the Saturday night event has, so far, proceeded smoothly.
In the main event, both middleweight champion Sean Strickland and challenger Dricus du Plessis successfully met the required weight in the chilly conditions of Ontario. Similarly, the co-main event participants, Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva, had no issues making weight as they vied for the vacant women’s bantamweight crown.
As of the current update, with just a couple of lower-card fighters yet to weigh in, the weigh-ins seem poised to continue without complicationsāa rarity in contemporary UFC events. It’s worth noting that a scheduled flyweight bout between Priscila Cachoeira and Jasmine Jasudavicius has been relocated to the bantamweight division. Both fighters successfully gained weight under the revised terms.
