Stephen Curry will miss his third consecutive game for the Golden State Warriors on Saturday in Houston due to a left ankle injury, but he participated in some drills during practice on Friday.

He was assessed earlier that day, and the Warriors’ medical team determined that the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-pointers is making good progress and is cleared to take part in practices, the team stated.

Curry is set to be evaluated again on Sunday before Golden State’s game on Monday against Washington. He got hurt in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night. The 36-year-old, who is in his 16th season, underwent an MRI after the game that showed no structural damage but indicated a left peroneal strain.

After the Warriors’ win over New Orleans on Wednesday, Curry said he was “feeling better” as he left the locker room.

He left the game for good with 7:55 left in the fourth quarter during a 112-104 loss. He briefly returned with 8:08 remaining, but when he tried to cut away from defender Kris Dunn toward the baseline, his ankle rolled outward, causing him to limp off toward the locker room.

Earlier in the game, at the 2:43 mark of the third quarter, Curry had initially hobbled to the bench and did not return for the rest of that period. The two-time MVP has had ongoing ankle problems with both feet.

Additionally, guard De’Anthony Melton was evaluated for his strained lower back and will also miss his third straight game on Saturday. He is scheduled to be checked again in a week.
