Steve Gleason, former New Orleans Saints safety and prominent ALS advocate, returned home after being hospitalized for six days due to a medical issue. Gleason expressed his gratitude for being back home with his family by sharing photos on social media, describing the feeling as being “reborn.” The emotional post highlighted his sense of renewal after his challenging experience in the hospital.

Even while in the hospital, Gleason stayed active on social media, sharing a picture of himself watching the Saints’ decisive 44-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Living with ALS since 2011, Gleason has become known for his resilience and positivity. Though he now relies on a ventilator, his connection to the Saints and his ability to inspire others with his fighting spirit remain strong.

Gleason was hospitalized due to complications from low blood pressure and a fever, with his doctor recommending he be evaluated. The situation was made more difficult by Hurricane Francine, a Category 2 storm that hit Louisiana, causing severe weather conditions, power outages, and flooding in New Orleans. Despite these challenges, EMS managed to reach Gleason in time to transport him to the hospital for care.

Gleason’s legacy with the Saints is etched in history, particularly for his unforgettable blocked punt during the team’s first game back in the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina in 2006. That moment became a symbol of hope and resilience for the entire city. Since his diagnosis with ALS, Gleason has focused on helping others with the disease, founding Team Gleason to provide technology, resources, and support to those affected.

Beyond his advocacy work, Gleason has been honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYS and co-authored a memoir titled *A Life Impossible*. The memoir, written with Jeff Duncan using eye-tracking technology, is a testament to his perseverance and innovative spirit. Gleason’s efforts continue to make an impact, inspiring countless people facing ALS and other life-altering challenges.
