The Vikings will be without tight end T.J. Hockenson for at least the first month of the regular season.
According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, Hockenson is on the physically unable to perform list, so he can’t play for at least the first four games.
Hockenson signed a four-year, $63.5 million contract with the Vikings last year and was having a great season until he tore his ACL in Week 16. Since it has only been eight months since the injury, it’s expected that he’s not ready to play yet.
The Vikings are hopeful that Hockenson will be able to play and contribute later in the season, but not at the beginning.
The Vikings’ first four games are against the Giants, 49ers, Texans, and Packers. The earliest Hockenson could return is October 6 against the Jets in London.
