The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to have one of their key wide receivers ready for Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.
Mike Evans, who had been dealing with a hamstring issue this week, is off the injury report and will play in Week 7, according to Adam Schefter. He wasn’t fully healthy during Week 6 but managed to play. He took it easy in practice and seems ready for an important game against a top team.
On Saturday morning, Evans was still a game-time decision, as stated by head coach Todd Bowles:
“He did some things today that were encouraging,” Bowles said. “We’ll see how the next two guys and we’ll see how he feels Monday. He’s questionable right now.”
However, his status quickly improved. Evans likely responded well after missing the last two practices leading up to Saturday. He played just 57% of the snaps against the Saints, which was his lowest this season.
Still, the former Texas A&M star is having a great season with 25 catches for 310 yards and is tied for the league lead with five touchdown receptions.
The Buccaneers are performing well with quarterback Baker Mayfield, holding a 4-2 record. They have one of the top offenses in the NFL, averaging 29.7 points per game, which ranks second in the league.
They recently scored 51 points against New Orleans, with Mayfield throwing for 324 yards and four touchdowns, despite being intercepted three times. He connected with Chris Godwin 11 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
In this matchup, Evans had only two receptions last game, but his role is expected to increase on Primetime. The Buccaneers are mostly healthy, with Jamel Dean, Kameron Johnson, and Payne Durham ruled out. Vita Vea and Rachaad White are listed as questionable.
Kick-off is set for 5:15 PM PT on Monday at Raymond James Stadium.
