Starting quarterback Will Levis was noted in the Titans’ injury report before their Week 7 game against the Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee received some bad news ahead of Sunday’s match. Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks, who hurt his knee this week, has been ruled out, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
“The Titans are expected to place WR Treylon Burks on Injured Reserve, per sources,” Fowler reported. “Burks suffered a non-contact knee injury in practice and is set to miss the next four weeks.”
After a tough 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, the Titans will face a challenging game against the AFC East-leading Bills. Burks had one reception for 10 yards in Tennessee’s previous game against Buffalo.
When discussing the injury, head coach Brian Callahan expressed concerns about Burks’ long-term status while speaking to reporters on Friday after practice, according to Titans.com’s Jim Wyatt.
“We’re working through it,” Callahan said. “It will be some time, no matter what. How long, we’ll see.
We’re not totally sure yet. There is potential for [IR], for an extended amount of time. We’re just waiting on some final word from the doctors and all that on what that’s going to look like. But I would expect him to miss some time.”
The Titans selected Burks in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started in two of the Titans’ first five games in the 2024 NFL season.
After being fully involved in practice on Thursday, Titans starting quarterback Will Levis, who has a shoulder injury, was limited in practice on Friday, joining Treylon Burks on the injury report. This is a positive sign for the 1-4 Titans as they prepare for their game against the Bills.
Levis aims to improve on his performance of 16 completions out of 27 attempts for 95 yards against the Colts. He also threw one interception, which ended the Titans’ eight-year run of winning games following their bye week.
