Tennessee quarterback Will Levis is listed as questionable for the Titans’ home game on Sunday against the New England Patriots after missing two games due to a right shoulder injury.
Levis, who had limited participation in practice, had a “good week,” according to coach Brian Callahan on Friday.
“He felt a lot better this week than he did last week, which is positive,” Callahan said. “You can see the strength and stamina starting to come back a little bit. We’ll see by the time we get to game day, but he’s better than he was last week, which is all we were hoping to see.”
Callahan mentioned on Wednesday that the team was watching how Levis feels as he throws on consecutive days and would increase his throwing if he felt ready.
Levis, 25, has started nine games this season, completing 66.4 percent of his passes for 699 yards, five touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
He got hurt during the Titans’ 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on October 13. Mason Rudolph, 29, has played in three games, starting in place of Levis during road losses to the Buffalo Bills on October 20 and the Detroit Lions last Sunday. He is 56 of 95 (58.9 percent) for 566 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
The Titans have lost three games in a row, bringing their record to 1-6, while the Patriots sit at 2-6.
Tennessee picked Levis in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft from Kentucky. He has started all 14 games he has played over two seasons, with a record of 4-10, completing 232 of 380 passes (61.1 percent) for 2,507 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Coach Callahan also announced that cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will not play on Sunday due to a quad injury.
Sneed, 27, has not played since the October 13 loss to Indianapolis. He has made 23 tackles in five games this season, all of which he started.
This is Sneed’s first season with the Titans after being traded from the Chiefs in March. Kansas City selected him in the fourth round of the 2020 draft from Louisiana Tech.
In his career, Sneed has 326 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 62 regular-season games (59 starts). He has also started all 13 of his playoff games, recording 75 tackles, two sacks, and one interception. He was part of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning teams in 2022 and 2023.
