Teoscar Hernández had three hits and drove in three runs, including a crucial single in the eighth inning that put the Los Angeles Dodgers ahead for good in a 3-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night.

In the eighth inning, Hernández hit a single up the middle with two outs, bringing in Kiké Hernández who had doubled earlier against Erik Miller (3-3).

This season, Teoscar Hernández has driven in 27 runs with two outs, which ties him for the fourth-most in the National League.

“At the beginning of the season, I struggled with runners in scoring position. I think I was trying too hard and trying to cover too much of the plate,” he said.

“Now, I’m focusing more on having a plan and executing it the way I want. I stick with my approach even if I don’t immediately succeed.”

Tyler Fitzgerald became the first Giants player to hit a home run in four consecutive games since Brandon Belt did it twice in 2018. Fitzgerald’s home run came in the seventh inning, tying the game at 2-2 on a pitch from Ryan Yarbrough.

River Ryan pitches in the 2nd inning

Making his major league debut, River Ryan allowed one unearned run over 5 1/3 innings for the Dodgers. The 23-year-old right-hander, acquired from San Diego in a 2022 trade, gave up four hits, walked three, and struck out two.

“I stayed focused throughout the day, did my job, and gave us a chance to win,” said Ryan, who pitched into the sixth inning for the first time in his professional career.

Manager Dave Roberts indicated that Ryan will likely get another start with the Dodgers instead of being sent back to the minors.

“I liked his stuff. I think there’s more to come,” Roberts said. “He was efficient, aggressive, and I liked that.”

Blake Treinen (4-2) pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Daniel Hudson earned his seventh save of the season.

Teoscar Hernández hit his 21st home run of the season in the fourth inning, a deep shot to left field off Giants starter Blake Snell. It was his second consecutive game with a home run and ranks him fifth in the NL in home runs this season.
