The Texas Longhorns are presently zeroed in on their upcoming March Madness clash against Colorado State on Thursday. However, their sights are also firmly set on the promising horizon.
On Thursday, Cam Scott, a prized four-star recruit for the class of 2024, garnered the prestigious title of South Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year. Scott, weighing in at 165 pounds and standing tall at 6 feet 5 inches, hails from Lexington, South Carolina.
He is poised to grace Austin next season, joining a stellar 2024 recruiting cohort that includes the highly touted five-star guard Tre Johnson and the versatile four-star forward Nic Codie.
Scott’s journey to Texas began with an official visit to Austin last November, a trip that left an indelible mark on him. Reflecting on his visit, he expressed a deep-rooted sense of belonging, affirming that Austin has always felt like home to him.
“I’m ready to be in Austin,” Scott articulated, as quoted by On3. “Always felt like home and it’s time to work back to a Final Four run.”
His commitment to Texas materialized on August 11, 2023, culminating in his official signing on November 8 of the same year.
Despite enticing offers from renowned programs such as Alabama, Oregon, Auburn, and Clemson—all of which are currently vying in the NCAA Tournament’s first round—Scott opted to don the Longhorns’ jersey. Other notable suitors included Florida State, Georgia, and LSU.
