Alexandre Texier and Damon Severson scored in the shootout, helping the Columbus Blue Jackets end a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night.

Kirill Marchenko and Zach Werenski scored in the third period to bring Columbus back from a two-goal deficit. Mathieu Olivier also scored, and Elvis Merzlikins made 30 saves to secure his first career win against Pittsburgh.

“It feels good,” Merzlikins said, smiling. “Tonight, I did it after trying for five years.”

Drew O’Connor, Bryan Rust, and Rickard Rackell scored for the Penguins, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 35 saves. This victory marked Pittsburgh’s first loss to the Blue Jackets in four games this season.

Olivier scored a short-handed goal early in the first period, and O’Connor tied the game for Pittsburgh in the second period. Rust then gave the Penguins the lead, with Crosby assisting on the goal.

Rackell extended Pittsburgh’s lead in the third period, but Marchenko quickly responded for Columbus. Werenski then tied the game in the final minutes of regulation.
